Machining center control system

Time:2023-10-08 Preview:

The CNC control system is an important component of high-speed machining centers, which largely determines the speed, accuracy, and surface quality of machine tool processing. Therefore, for high-speed machine tools that process mold free surfaces, the performance of CNC systems is of special significance.

When machining high-precision free form surfaces, the tool trajectories composed of micro segments of straight lines and arcs create a huge part program. These data streams need to be stored and processed by the machine tool control system. Therefore, the length of program segment processing time is an important indicator that determines the efficiency of CNC control systems. At present, the processing time of program segments in high-end CNC control systems can generally reach 0.5ms (such as Heidelberg's iTNC530 CNC system), while the processing time of program segments in some CNC systems has been shortened to 0.2-0.4ms.

The modern CNC numerical control system applied to high-speed machining of molds should not only have the necessary short program processing time to ensure high-speed feed speed, but also have Nurbs and spline interpolation functions, and can work at a nanometer resolution to achieve high machining accuracy and surface quality in high-speed machining.

At present, high-end CNC systems can also be connected to CAD/CAM systems from different manufacturers, and data is transmitted from the CAD/CAM system to the control system at high speed through Ethernet. Integrating CAD/CAM into control systems can greatly achieve good results in the processing of complex mold contours, and make a significant contribution to shortening adjustment and programming time.
